His photographic aesthetic portrays the scenic, the sublime, the spontaneous, and the surreal with imagery shaped by subjective spatial perspectives. As a cultural explorer and longtime historic preservationist, he is the author of Lost in Wonderland: Reflections on Palm Beach and Palm Beach: A Greater Grandeur, essays focused on the island's larger-than-life characters and unrestrained traditions. Augustus Mayhew's photographs have informed his Palm Beach Social Diary column for more than a decade and have also been published at The Palm Beach Daily News, Palm Beach Life magazine and Quest.
